Are
you a good potential online learner? |
||||||||
Online learning may not be for everyone. Successful online learners will have adequate computer skills and knowledge as well as the ability to mange their own time. They also need to have regular access to a computer and the Internet. Successful online learners tend to be self-directed. That is, they have the ability to organize their own time. Self-directed learners decide what, when, and how they study. They tend to be goal-oriented and have good problem-solving skills. Following are some questions to help you decide if online learning is right for you. |
||||||||
| I am self-disciplined, work well independently, and complete assignments ahead of time. | ||||||||
| I have good time-management skills that will enable me to balance coursework with my personal and professional life. | ||||||||
| I can devote at least 10 hours per week (40 hours per month) to my online coursework. (This is mandatory.) | ||||||||
| My reading comprehension is good, and I learn well on my own. | ||||||||
| I am comfortable with written communication. | ||||||||
| I am comfortable expressing myself using e-mail and do not necessarily need a face-to-face meeting with the instructor and other students. | ||||||||
| If I am not sure what to do, I feel comfortable asking for help by way of e-mail. | ||||||||
| I am confident enough with computers, printers, and software to ask technicians for assistance when needed. | ||||||||
| I have access to the Internet, e-mail, and a computer on a regular basis. | ||||||||
| I am able to follow directions with very little supervision. | ||||||||
